Windmill (Fremont) Ridge

These trails are accessed from the Willow Lake Road going out of Pinedale.  Same road as Soda Lake, Little Soda and Willow Lake.  Parking is just before the "Windmill".  There are a couple of turn outs.  Room for two maybe three rigs.  Great for when the higher trails are still snowed in and Soda Lake hasn't opened yet.  This is all on BLM or Forest Service land.

Track on April 29, 2020.  7.1 miles.  Altitude=7,320' to 7,799'.  Ascent/descent=810'
Trail conditions=85% soft dirt, 15% rocky.  Mostly two tracks and some cross country, depending on choice of trails.

Track on April 20, 2020.  3.1 miles.  Still some snow banks and muddy trails.

Looking down on the parking area.

One of the tracks leading up to the ridge.

Leading up to the ridge, somewhat rocky and steep.  Saw lots of deer, April 20.

No trail here, quite rocky.

One of the options to go up the ridge.

On top of the ridge, snowbank on April 25.

Unusual rock with tree growing out of it.  Apparently, the tree didn't pick a very good spot.

Dog had fun playing in the snow bank and horses had fun munching on it.  April 29.
