CCC Ponds

The ponds at basically full capacity on May 16, 2020.

A pleasant ride just about 10 minutes from Pinedale.  A good choice when the higher elevation trails are snowed in.  Good access to Fremont Lake beach in May before the crowds hit.  There are several options here including riding on a two-track or trail blazing through the sagebrush.  Has mountain and lake views and of course the water features.  We are told it is very popular with hikers and bikers. Surprisingly, we have never encountered crowds here and on May 16, 2020 (a Saturday) we were the only ones there. You can google "CCC Ponds" for general directions.

One of the tracks we did in May, 2019.  A little over 4 miles on this one.  We started at the parking area just off the road.  There is room for one rig and some turn around space.
This is a ride taken on May 2, 2020.  About 4 miles total. Easy parking just off the main road.
This was a track we did on May 16, 2020, which went close to the marina parking area. (Nothing here indicated no horses) The yellow arrows point to possible parking.  The pink arrow points to the  Pond parking area.  Again, no indication that horse trailers are not allowed.  There is a rest room there.
This shows the marina parking area.

Fremont Lake "Outlet" close to, but not part of the marina area.

Outlet area close to the "dam".  Here is where many of the deer cross on their migrations.

Can be part of a "loop" ride.  On the left side of the fence is private property.

Beach access in May.  Some ice still in the lake.

The place where horses can drink and cross the "canal".  This was in early May, 2019.  On May 16, 2020, this canal was too deep to cross safely.

Side path to "Frog Ponds"

Canal crossing on May 2, 2020.  Two weeks later it was too deep.

May 2, 2020....Ponds are really low.

  1. On the photo marked "Another Loop" we parked in the area just off the main road where the Yellow arrow points. It is visible from the main road, but easy to miss if you"re not looking.
